What a kajal is

A soft black eye paste traditionally made from lamp soot and ghee or oil, applied with a fingertip or a rod — now also sold as a twist-up stick.

How it is used. Line the waterline and smudge the lower lash line outward.

The techniques

Rim: Run the applicator along the closed waterline so colour lines the inside rim of the eye.
Smudge: Soften a drawn line into a haze while the product is still workable.
